The Office covers the entire West Garo Hills District, Sub-Divisions as well as the blocks through its Sub-Divisional offices at Ampati and Dadenggre.

As per the Citizen Charter, Information & Public Relations Department is primarily a multi-media advertising agency informing people about the activities, policies and programmes of the Central and State Government and to motivate them to participate in the developmental activities through different languages, media, press, outdoor publicity and exhibitions. It also provides feedback to the Government about people’s reactions to the Government policies and programmes as reflected in the media through Press clippings.

Special Interactive Programmes: In the context of intense implementation of different programmes, this office has been organizing Special Interactive Programmes (SIPs) at different villages within the district. As such, these Special Interactive Programmes are organized annually at six different places in the district, two under Tura Sadar Sub-Division and two each under Ampati and Dadenggre sub-divisions. Resource persons from different development departments are invited to participate in these programmes, wherein they inform and highlight the different schemes and programmes that are available with their respective departments in the interest of the rural people.

Besides highlighting different schemes by different line departments, the office also attempts to bring awareness to the rural people about the Right to Information Act, 2005 in every such interactive programmes.

Distribution of DTH Sets: During the financial year 2008-09, this office has distributed Direct to Home (DTH) TV sets to selected villages within the district. The main objective of the distribution of DTH sets to the rural areas is to make the people acquainted with the DTH facility being provided by the Prasar Bharati. Emphasis is given to those electrified areas where the DD signal is not available or negligible, so that people residing in those shadow areas could view programmes as offered by Doordarshan Kendra through DTH platform.

Press Coverage: The office has made an all out effort to disseminate information to the people through press coverage of all important Government programmes and functions, including the visits of VVIPs and other dignitaries.

Public Address System: This office provides and arranges Public Address System not only for Government programmes and functions but even for the social and cultural activities in the interest of the public. As such it has also arranged PA System during the General elections to the Legislative Assembly and the Lok Sabha, facilitating smooth conduct of business and discharging of duties efficiently.
